Reflection on Presentations about Ukraine War.
In this blog I will be talking about my thoughts on our presentations from class. The presentations all groups did were about the Ukraine War, and we talked about different areas of it. This presentation was my favorite so far, since it was so much information and knowledge that we gain from it but it was also heartbreaking, and sad to accept that this is the reality some families are living during these difficult times. During these presentations I was surprised about how much information we weren't aware of during this war. The topics were divided in three groups: Group number one focused on immigration & housing, Group number two focused on education for children, college & universities for young adults and Group number three focused on health care (physical and emotional).
Group number one, gave us a lot of information about their topics. They talked about things that should be talked about more. They gave us information about the immigration process and talked about how only females and children can leave, since they recruited males older than 18 to become soldiers and fight for their country, unless they meet the requirement to stay. They also talked about how some centers had to close because it was getting overwhelming and there were a lot more people then they could handle, they called it "a migrant crisis", this is so sad because they are trying so hard to help everyone but it a lot of people. My thought on their presentation is that they knew what they were talking about, they gathered a lot of information and were organized, but I personally feel like they could have managed their time better, in order to give all the members to talk without feeling rushed. Overall their presentation was good and taught us a lot about the Ukraine War.
Group number two, talked about education and how the war is affecting a lot of kids not just in Ukraine but around the world as well. Many kids in Ukraine are losing their education since they have to evacuate to other countries, and many foreign students have also lost their semester, they have to rush to get to other colleges / universities. Many children are losing their childhood because of the war, they have lost the access to education. Some of the kids who immigrated to Poland are able to continue their studies there but many others are still fighting for their life in Ukraine. The Group 2 presentation was really heartbreaking, since realizing that kids are the most affected during this war is sad, but the group managed their time well and had a lot of important information to share with us.
Group number three, had the topic that focused on special needs people. This was my group and i'm glad we got this topic since i learned a lot about special needs people which i feel is something that is not talked about at all. Our group did a lot of research, and found a lot of interesting and important information, we were all sad about how much they were suffering and imagining how hard it is for them to try to understand why all this is going is heartbreaking. We focused on the health system and mental health area the most, and also found ways that they are being helped and ways we can help them. I'm sure all my team members gave their all to this presentation and it paid off, we were able to educate ourselves about the topics and our classmates as well.
The topic was amazing, it was informative, educational and heartbreaking. We can only imagine how much those people, families and children are going through right now. We must stay together and keep doing what we can to help them, and pray for all tgis to stop so they can start getting their normal life back, but all the trauma is going to be so hard to overcome. Ukraine and its people deserve better.
